Importance of Contextual Interpretation

Greetings:
Over the past few months I have been encouraged and led to post my Bible study notes on the books of the Bible. The NT is complete as well as a lot of the OT. All are from a Free Grace view of the Scriptures. You should be able to see why that viewpoint was selected as you move through the studies and let the Scriptures speak for themselves. The interpretative approach is based on the Historical-Grammatical-Exegetical principles that Scripture actually teaches.

Often Bible teachers speak of “context” which is critical to the correct understanding of the Scriptures (2 Tim 2:15). The question becomes, “How do you teach contextual interpretation to others.” I believe that the answer is relatively simple. Teach the Bible based on its chronological order to show the progress of God’s revelation, studying each book in a verse by verse manner. Outlines should be included along the way to maintain the contextual flow and that is done.

The Book of Acts will lead off the study to establish the chronological basis of the NT. James follows, then Galatians etc. Acts and James are already published on the TBC website, with Galatians to be posted soon. They are free to download.

If you would like to follow along please do so in the sequence laid out in the 1st century with Acts as the guide. I believe that it will enhance your spiritual understanding of the Scriptures.

The “Life of Christ” will be published next, covering all 4 Gospels at the same time. It is already finished but needs some formatting work. Then, Lord willing, we will begin in the OT in Genesis and move forward from there.

Blessings to all of thee.
